Star Trek!
So I saw the new Star Trek movie last night! Yes, it's almost out of theatres, but my mom and I tend to watch a lot of films right when they are about to leave because there are less people. So we get there and I went to get some food (I hadn't eaten ALL DAY because I was so nervous about the interview and by the time we got to the theatre it was around 7:30) and when I got back my mom tells me there were only 4 people that came out during the previous showing! SCORE! So here we are thinking it's 8:25 on a Tuesday and there is no way anyone other than us is coming to this thing. We were so wrong. :( First there were two. Then another two. Then they left. Yay! Then another two. :( Then the two that left came back. Then another two. And ANOTHER two. What the hell. Why didn't you people watch this earlier? Thankfully they were all silent throughout the film and BOY what a film. So good! I am ashamed to admit I now have a crush on Captain Kirk (the new one, not the manky old one). I thought the plot was pretty good, the special effects were good, and overall the movie was entertaining and never once did I wish I was sitting at home on the couch. :) (did I mention Kirk was cute?) Wind and Hamburger Salad!
Ok, so no, the two are not related. :P But I just had to mention that it's been super-mega windy today. I keep hearing things slam against the house. I haven't seen any cows or witches fly by yet, though, so I know Oz isn't quite near at the present. However, if I travel there soon, I'll say hi to the Wizard for you all. ;) OH, and if any of you who are always going on about wanting to see pictures of the lake and haven't read my Infamous Lake House post, then you will be in serious trouble. AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. :P As for hamburger salad. Yes. It sounds incredibly weird and possibly gross, but I LOVED it. Since I'm out of work I've been cooking/making dinner every night for the past 3 months for myself and my parents. Lately we've been having salads or other healthy things because we all want to lose some weight. Sad but true. Anyhoo, I usually make it with Salmon or Chicken and all the usual fixings plus spiced pecans and dried cranberries and various dressing, but I thought HEY! Why don't we have a Hamburger salad. My parents thought I was insane but I got a "that was pretty good :o" from my dad a few minutes ago so I thought I'd explain the concept. :D First you start with a bed of lettuce. (I prefer triple hearts...it gives variety.) Next, I added some tomato wedges, slices of avocado, sauteed shallots (for my dad and I as my mom hates onions of any variety) and some roasted potatoes. I was going to do some baked fries, but my dad apparently loves the roasted potatoes I make. Who knew. Then I minced two cloves of garlic and another shallot and added it to ground sirloin along with salt and pepper. I made mini sliders (ie really small hamburgers about an inch across) and I fried them with pam (no oil, it's baaad) as I have NO clue how to grill anything. :P On theirs I put cheese and then added that to the salads. Then I made Thousand Island dressing and VOILA, hamburger salad. Yummy. :* I I need some more ideas, so if any of you can think of salad ideas, let me know. :) Anyhoo, that was my day. Oh, and I called a nearby chinese restaurant that came onto MY DRIVEWAY, and placed a handful of fliers onto MY CAR and told them off. :D All in all, a very productive day. Current Mood: satisfied |

The Infamous Lake House
For any of you who know me to any extent, you'll know my parents have a second home, the lake house, that they bought for their upcoming retirement. We do, however, tend to visit it once or twice a month and on holidays. :D As this weekend was a holiday weekend (Easter), we of course went up to the lake and at Gloria's PERSISTENT begging for photos, I dragged my camera along and here are some photos of the house, the area, the lake, and the road that leads to the lake (because it had some good photo ops :D). ( Photos! ) Current Mood: artistic |

My current Favorites Playlist on my ipod! ( Read me Seymour, READ ME! )Ok, so here are SOME of the songs on my ipod and in my itunes library. I have loads of other music like Zero7, 80's compilation CDs, some BonJovi, and some Faery-ish type music (though I am sorely in need of more). I have a lot of music that I love to listen to while sleeping, reading, or just hanging about. Celtic Tale is a particular favorite. As is Nat King Cole. I tend to be all over the place as far as music goes. :) Anyone have artists/songs/albums to suggest? I have $23 sitting in the iTunes store just waiting to be spent. Help me out and I will love you forever and ever. :D</div> Current Mood: cheerful |

Hmmm...Ponderances of X-Files
I went to see X-Files last night. Not quite sure what reaction I had. See...I LOVED X-Files when it was on TV. Though, I must admit, when the episodes were too Alien-centric, I had to leave the room. Looooong story. :) Anyhoo, I've always loved the show and I liked (don't remember if I loved per se) the first movie. I have mixed feelings about this one. I liked that it wasn't all "alien conspiracy!" like one would have thought it would be. And most reviews were from people who weren't happy that it wasn't! However, it did have some dissapointing moments. I think overall it just plain needed to have more development of the story line. It was all, "ooh, there is an agent missing. Help us find her. We found her. People die. The End?" There wasn't enough X-Files-ness about it. I was very happy about other parts of the film that I won't name so that I don't give the plot away to those who haven't seen it. But...I think unless you are a die hard fan, I'd wait until it came to DVD or even HBO. Yeah. I miss that show. Why don't they show reruns?! Sad and sorry sign of the times. :( Current Mood: pensive |

So I watched Serenity this morning...
And I actually kind of liked it! :o Shocking right? I have to say, though, battling scenes always get kind of intense for me and I tend to not watch for moments of time. :P I'm weird, what can I say. I came in half way through and if any of you are thinking of watching the film (if you haven't already seen it and I think most of you have) I advise that you watch it from the beginning. It took me 20 minutes into the film to understand what the hell was going on. So yeah. I just felt like writing about it. I'll go now. :P Current Mood: impressed |

Hehe...yes...I'm still alive. o.o
I guess I've been a wee bit AWOL lately so I thought I'd better give at least a minor explanation. Firstly, our energy bill has been really really high lately and it came down to either being on the computer all the time or using air conditioning all day and though I love you all so very much, it's been between 80-115 degrees lately. :P You can just imagine what I chose. But now, I dunno, I kind of like not being on the computer all the time. My back was always hurting as were my wrists (we have the world's worst computer chair :P) so I just started cutting back even more without realizing it. No, I'm not quitting Neo or Gaia I guess I'm just enjoying other stuff right now. But I promise to check in once in awhile and those of you on my msn messenger list (and you know who you are) can always email me. :D So yeah. Basically I wrote this because I've been getting a lot of 'where are you's and 'we're worried and miss you' and I didn't want to leave you all feeling high and dry :* So drop me a line and such cause I do miss you too! :* Current Mood: cheerful |
